'Qardan Hasana' is often translated as the 'good loan' - qardan meaning loan and hasana meaning good.

It is the term found in the Quran wherein Allah asks

'Who is it that will loan to Allah the good loan so that Allah can reimburse him many times over and Allah collects and distributes and towards Him you will all return.' (Suratul-Baqarah)

Qardan Hasana is an interest free loan, Islam forbids interest as stated in the following verse:

"That is in that they say that profit is like interest while Allah has permitted profit and forbidden interest. With these teachings as the fundamental concepts the

Saifee Foundation has been pivotal in spreading the message of qardan hasana amongst the followers of the Dail Mutlaq both the founder, Dr Syedna Taher Saifuddin (ra) and his successor and current incumbent, Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (tus).

The Burhani Qardan Hasana Scheme is the parent scheme to several schemes operated by local communities throughout the UK in particular and in Europe at large.

Qardan Hasana operates on a strictly interest-free basis, the only monies repayable are the exact amount given to the recipient. He is expected to provide security and guarantors in order to receive a loan but no additional payments.

The scheme currently loans several hundreds of thousands of pounds every year from a corpus fund donated outright and exclusively by Syedna from his personal funds.
